Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a management strategy under which our company supports employees in their daily work to address social concerns and environmental issues.

Brose Sitech Group’s CSR strategy is based on the following assumptions:

Implementation of selected Sustainable Development Goals at Brose Sitech sp. z o.o.

As a socially responsible company, Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. is following legal regulations and international standards of behavior, thus contributing to sustainable development.

As a company operating in an international group, it also recognizes the possibility of active participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have been accepted by the member states of the United Nations. These goals focus on implementing this idea through three dimensions: economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection. Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. also joins the implementation of these challenges.

Goal 1

Elimination of poverty

Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. provides salaries on average by several percents higher than the average salary in the Lower Silesian Voivodship. Apart from the basic salary, our employees have the possibility of obtaining additional financial benefits, e.g. in the form of an annual bonus, performance bonus or team bonus, as well as a holiday bonus or in the form of a school allowance for children.

Goal 3

People's health and well-being

Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. takes a number of actions to protect the health of its employees. 24-hour medical care is provided in the Outpatient Clinic.

Employees have the option of using the diagnostic, laboratory and vaccination package. Since 2015, the employer has provided the crew with physiotherapy consultations aimed at diagnosing body posture defects and preventing musculoskeletal disorders. 80% of physiotherapy treatments are co-financed by the employer. In 2018, a physiotherapy office was opened at Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. and the employees can use physiotherapy treatments every day.

The company's annual slogan is "Brose Sitech for Health", under which 6 preventive actions are offered. The actions include access to diagnostic and laboratory tests as well as consultations with specialist doctors. In 2019, we focus on prevention of breast, prostate, internal organ cancer, digestive disease prevention, musculoskeletal disease prevention, stress-related disease prevention, respiratory disease prevention and diabetes prevention.

The company attaches great importance to ensuring safe working conditions. This is reflected in the implementation of the Health and Safety Policy in 2015. The policy assumes, first of all, constant identification of possible threats to health and life of the employees in the production process, elimination of detected threats and constant control. The aforementioned document is also a commitment of the company to constantly minimize the risk of accidents at work. In order to manage the safety system more effectively, BS OHSAS 18001 was introduced in 2015. 

Brose Sitech not only cares about the health and safety of its employees, but also the local community. As part of the " I am safe on the move" project, initiated by Mr. Andrzej Świerczyński, we educate children in early childhood education and school education how to travel safely by car, how to fasten their seat belts, why a child should be put in a booster seat and what you must not do while driving. The action is widely appreciated by the local community.

Goal 4

High-level education

Brose Sitech's employees have access to internal and external training courses implemented under the Development Plan. The training centre is located on the premises of the Polkowice plant, which is part of the Competence Centre of Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. Its aim is to shape attitudes and deepen knowledge, among others in the field of Lean Manufacturing, ergonomics and 5S.

The employer also co-finances the costs of studying at school or university and the costs of training (course, seminar, workshop) in the amount of 25%, 50% or 75%.

Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. also takes care of the development of young employees. We signed a letter of intent to cooperate with Zespół Szkół (School Complex) in Chocianow. Since then, we have been offering our students support in the process of vocational training in the profession of mechatronics fitter. In the first year, young workers undergo training in our company, and theoretical and practical education takes place at school. In the second and third year, they are already on the premises. We take care of both the development of their knowledge as well as practical skills, we also help them to prepare for the vocational exam.

We have introduced the "Wanderer" program (Wanderjahre in German). The stay can take place in a selected Volkswagen company around the world and lasts about 6-18 months.

In 2015, the Practical Student Education project was launched in cooperation with the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and the Polish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Polska). Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. was the first company in Lower Silesia to introduce a dual system of education for students of Mechanical Engineering and Machine Construction. All activities are aimed at deepening students' practical knowledge. The project is related to the combination of education at the university with practical classes at Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. during the academic year.

Supporting the development of the young generation, we have launched the "Start with Brose Sitech" programme, which is addressed to all schools and universities in the area. As part of the program, we offer free internships and paid graduate traineeships. Internships usually last up to 4 weeks, traineeships from 4 weeks to 12 months, and graduate traineeships from 12 to 24 months. Depending on the interests or field of study, our company offers the opportunity to gain experience in such departments as Logistics, Financial, Quality Assurance or Purchasing. Schools and universities, which are located around the Brose Sitech Branches in Glogow and Wrzesnia, also benefit from the programme.

Goal 5 / Goal 10

Gender equality / Less inequality

We are an organization open to diversity - every employee is equally important to us.

All employees regardless of their gender, age and other features are offered the same pay and working conditions. We have been signatories to the Diversity Charter since 2017, and the Diversity Policy implemented in 2018 completes this commitment. We undertake a number of actions aimed at promoting diversity among employees.

We have introduced the Internal Anti-Mobbing Policy regulation into the company. Brose Sitech is committed to compliance with labour law regulations, principles of social coexistence and respect for the dignity and other personal rights of employees. The purpose of the procedure is to prevent bullying and discrimination among employees. We create our work environment based on values such as mutual respect, trust, and honesty. The procedure defines the rights and obligations of employees when an undesirable situation arises. Each employee has been made aware of the order.

Goal 8

Economic growth and good work

Brose Sitech is one of the best employers in the region. We promote a pro-development policy, create workplaces, but most of all we stimulate creativity and innovation. Our products are of high quality and meet international standards.

We take care of the development of the company by acquiring new projects and developing modern technologies.  We try to cooperate with local business entities according to the idea of "Local Sourcing" and thus contribute to the development of our region.

We develop new, innovative products and components for our plants to secure existing workplaces and create new ones. Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. has two R&D offices located in Polkowice and Wroclaw, which are responsible for developing know-how and new technologies.

Goal 9

Innovation, industry, infrastructure

Our employees can submit proposals for improvement of the workplace (in paper and electronic versions in a special system that allows checking the status of the application).

These ideas help to create safe workplaces, achieve better results and increase job satisfaction. An employee whose application has been implemented receives a bonus. Every month, the author of the best proposal for improvement is also selected and receives a special award. Thanks to this action, employees' motivation increases, their creativity is stimulated, and thanks to the possibility of co-determination, their involvement increases. The innovation of ideas is at a high level and thus we generate savings for the company. 

Goal 12 / Goal 13

Responsible consumption and production / Actions for climate protection

Brose Sitech operates in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and rational use of natural resources. We act and think ecologically.

In our company, we implement "Think Blue. Factory" project, in which we take a number of actions to reduce the consumption of energy, water, waste and carbon dioxide. We introduce an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001, we use waste segregation, we use electronic document circulation and we educate employees.

Goal 16

Peace, justice and strong institutions

Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. stands for responsible business management and integrity in concluding transactions.

In addition to economic indicators, a decisive measure of our company's success is its public perception. Credibility and trust in our products are very important to us, which is why our management is based on clear and indisputable principles. Our position on corruption is clear: we only do pure business. Therefore, we pursue a Compliance policy that educates our employees on the importance of ensuring that the organization's operations comply with the standards set by legislative and regulatory authorities, market principles and internal regulations for the company's employees. We carry out tasks aimed at raising awareness of the fight against corruption and preventing its negative effects. We provide employees with a special Anti-Corruption Guide and Code of Conduct which shows how to avoid such threats. We have our own internal regulations - organizational instructions: "Prevention of conflicts of interest and corruption", "Invitations and gifts for employees of  Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. and third parties", "Anti-money laundering", "Verification of honesty and reliability", "Risk management system". We have established a Compliance Officer within our organisational structure, to whom the whistle-blowers may report. Each employee receives specialist training on the subject of compliance and corruption. In addition, we educate employees on cartel and competition law. We pay special attention to ensure that our business partners are familiar with the requirements of the Group.

Goal 17

Partnerships in support of objectives

Effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals requires partnership cooperation between business, governments and the local community. Such partnerships should be built on the basis of principles and values, a common vision and objectives.

Brose Sitech sp. z o.o. conducts a dialogue with both its internal and external stakeholders. The social partners actively participate in the company's life and all strategic decisions are made with their participation. They regularly meet with the company's Managing Directors and participate in committees appointed in the company. Meetings with external stakeholders are held on the basis of the AA 1000 standard. The last such meeting took place at the end of 2017, but the cooperation continues throughout the year. In addition, our stakeholders often visit our plant, whether as a visit or a factory tour.
